Got home from a party last night to the smell of hot brakes and noticible radiant heat from the rear right wheel. The caliper (as advised at my service a couple of weeks ago - why don't I listen!) has seized.
Local GSF doesn't have one in stock and I need to get to Stoke (where they do have one in stock) for work on Tuesday. A Couple of questions:
1: If I whip the caliper off and give it a thorough service (clean any corrosion off the piston etc), would I be able to trust it for my 70 mile commute?
2: When I replace the caliper, should I be replacing the pads as well? They're only a few thousand miles old and have plenty of meat left. Discs were replaced at the same time, I could do without replacing these as well!
