    "alarm system service required"

yesterday the above message started coming up on the display, i'm guessing this is the common siren issue/replacement. Not being up on P2's has the siren got to be replace (£200 from main stealer if i remember), or is there an easy fix, or can i just ignore it

    many thanks

    Wow! it's taken this long?

£120 or so will see you with a new siren unit from fleabay. Although, I didn't bother as the message goes away after you start moving

Has it started going off in the middle of the night yet?

I'm sure it's possessed, has a mind of it's own or it's just basically jinxed!

the front bumper covers not meant to be that hard to remove, but i thought the siren unit was in the wheel arches, just need to remove the lining to get to it. I've got a nice collection of messages to scroll thru on start up so not overly bothered as long as it doesn't cause problems

You need to remove the wheelarch liner on the drivers side, then drill the rivets that hold the siren. It's under the washer bottle.

    There's a thread somewhere...

Common on all P2's S60/V70 and S80 as well, batteries in sounder unit are leaking on circuit board and dead.Just started rebuilding the now after changing one at £150 plus vat from Volvo.Kept the old one got some battery packs and just done my first one yesterday, will fit it tomorrow on a 2005 p1 V70 facelift and if it's works guys you can have reconditioned one from me
    Thanks

They used to be about £85 for the full kit from Rufe.
Phone them up to get an upto date price as it will have gone up just like everything else .
