    Aftermarket speakers in P2 V70?

Does anybody know what size speakers I'd need in the doors of my V70? It seems only the rear driver's side is working, it would save me taking off two door cards to measure them.
    Many thanks

Factory size is 5.25" I think.

I'm pretty sure you remove the plastic mounting by drilling out the rivits & replacing the speakers from the back of it. If you're going through that much trouble why not make yourself some MDF rings & mount some decent 6.5" speakers there instead?

Thanks for that. I was considering just buying some on eBay but I've decided to take off each door card to test the wires to each speaker. Funny feeling the police may have disconnected them for some reason. If I need some I will definitely upgrade to 6.5".
    Cheers

The speakers are mounted to the door not the door card mate. You do need to drill the rivets tho. I would check the adapter cable behind the head unit first as it's much easier to get at than the door wiring. Then disconnect the door loom, the plug is located in the pillar, behind the rubber grommet they can corrode and play - up. Then, if you still can't fix it, put a meter on the speaker plug to see if the wire is active.
It's very rare to have a completely dead speaker, nevermind 3. It'll most likely be the wiring behind the stereo.

I got to the bottom of this. All but one of the speaker wires had been cut then taped up for some strange reason. Crimped them all back together today and job's a good 'un

Sweet mate! Good speakers aren't they!

On mine, the D-pillar and center speaker connections were live, even with an aftermarket head unit. 5 speakers and a sub later and the sound is epic (with more than a little help from Mark R.I.P.)

I don't think the centre speaker works nor do the tweeters but I will look into them when I swap the interior and doorcards. I'm happy enough for now with 4 working speakers lol

You should have 6 - there's tweets in the doors, next to the grab-handle.

The connections will be there for the centre and rear speakers, just plug an old speaker into them to see if they're live.
