Angry service light reset and alarm siren problem

Had my T5 V70 53 plate for 9 months now and 'service due' message is now coming on.Ive done my own sevice and need to know if i can reset service reminder manually or if it has to be done with diagnostic tool. Also following on from an earlier post when my alarm was going off at regular intervals,I followed the threads re replacing the siren because the nicad battery leaks onto the circuit board and after trying 3 sirens from the scrap yard(all had the same problem) I disconnected and removed the siren.I just ignored the message of 'alarm service required' when first starting the car but now after about 5 months the hazard lights keep coming on(obviously the siren is not an issue cos its been removed). As far as i know the lights have not been coming on intermittantly but its now decided to flash most of the night when parked up.Is there anything that I can disconnect/remove to stop the lights from draining the battery? Cheers in advance

The n/s bonet catch has a switch built into it which does fail if water gets in,when you lock the car do the lights flash if not there is a fault with a switch ,if anyone near you has a dice/ VIDA tester it can tell you what is a fault.

Lights flash when I lock the car and the alarm red led in the middle of the dash flickers as it should to show you have set the alarm

To reset the "time for regular servce" message...

    Insert key...
press and hold trip reset, turn key to position II
keep holding trip reset till the orange triangle flashes and you get "ping ping ping" from the dash
release the trip reset and turn the ignition off.
    job done

As for the alarm, if you change the bonnet catch and still have this problem, remove the plastic square in the middle of the headlining, there's a mass-movement sensor attached to it. Pull the connection off, clean the contacts and reconnect it. Then just poke it back inside the headlining - you don't need to attach it to the plastic square which often breaks due to age.

How much for the bonnet catch and is it an easy job to replace?

When I had my DIM changed, the dealers found other things wrong with the car and gave me a quote for nearly £900 + VAT! They were kind enough to trigger the "time for regular service" message for me, to remind me of the grands-worth of work that needed doing. You should have seen the service manager's face when I reset the message in front of him lol.
