    removing handbrake cable

    i need to remove the handbrake cable from the rear hub assembly so i can take it off, tbh i've not even looked in the Heinz manual so no idea how it undoes or anything. Help please

    I think I just used shear force!
    Owned since 2002. '96 Green 855-R, Manual M56H conversion by Russ @ RT Mech, 82mm rebore, THS Rods, Wiseco Piston kit, Decked Block, Machine work was completed by: www.mandjltd.co.uk, Refurbed head inc skim & 8 new valves, ME7 Ex Manifold, RICA304, Forge Blanking plate, 302mm set-up, PowerFlex Top & Bottom, Front Strut Brace, Miltek Cat-Back, R.I.P, IPD Cone Filter.

    Latest update: 10000 miles as at 19/05/13.

    To do: Lots (but don't tell Mrs Woody!)

    You'll figure it out. I think it'll just unhook and unclip easily. Wind off inside the car first.

    Bloody camber plates, I've got to grind off the bolt heads so need to take the assembly off to get the remaining studs took out

    now i'm assuming that the cables attached to this mechanisms somehow, anyone any details how, where & how to disconnect it lol

    i've already got no foot brakes so relying on the handbrake to stop me at the minute (think that might be an MOT failure tho lol)

    Haven't done one for a long time but I think you back the in car adjuster right off (so the cables are really slack) then remove the bottom tension spring on the shoes, spread out the shoes so you can unhook the mechanism then swing out the bottom lever and pull the whole mechanism out away from the shoes and it should expose the nipple on the end of the handbrake cable that you can then disengage from the mechanism....I could be completely wrong though !

    you were correct sir, i did cheat & just unbolted the handbrake lever to remove the cables instead of slackening the adjuster
