    Top bogeneering required

Bodgeneering - sorry about the spelling.

The branch to the main water pipe (steel??) that carries the turbo return came off today. I cut it short during the fabrication process of fitting the new garrett - which removed the bead off the end. The stump left is about 3/4 inch long

Aside the possible damage that may have occurred - I am trying to remain positive.

What do you think is the best way to stop the standard water pressure from pushing the rubber coolant hose off the stub, given there is no bead to stop it.

Do I need to take the main branch pipe off again - which is very difficult with the manifold in place - and get a bead welded to it?
    Will liquid metal adhesive do?

I've also though about glueing on brass olive or compression fittings.

Glue the rubber pipe on & then use 2 jubilees?

To be honest it's driving me around the twist trying to do this so the pipe cannot fall off again.

only other way around it is (which is a total bodge and i wouldnt do it but you did ask) if the pipe is either 15 or 22mm use a compression fitting on it and copper pipe out of the other side but tbh ide take the water pipe off and have it extended and a bead of weld etc on the end.
    P.s dont use liquid metal

Do you have any means of flairing the end so it's slightly wider that the rest of the pipe? Like a big version of a brake pipe flairing tool.
Just to get a lip that a jubilee clip/tbolt clamp can work with.

Not enough room to get in with one & I doubt it will flair with the thickness of the pipe wall.

Use a file or sandpaper to rough the surface up a bit then, to give it some purchase.

Without taking the pipe off - which I will probably do at the end of this year, along with the other planned strip down & improvements - I think corse grit sandpaper is no bad idea

get a pair of cutters and pinch the pipe (don't cut it) while lifting cutters away from pipe..........this will make a small pinch in the edge of the pipe..........once the jubilee clip is over the rubber it will not pull back over these pinch's...............

the end that the rubber hose fits on where the original bead would have been................if you can't get cutters to it ........use a chisel or screwdriver and bang a series of notches around the edge (wherever you have enough access ) this will have the same effect

Picture of the stump - it sort of points downwards & sits quite close to the compressor scroll.

Try using this type of clip instead, jubilees don'y exert equal pressure all the way around the pipe, these do:

That rules out some of my ideas, not enough room to work with tools there, could you soft or silver solder a pipe olive on to it, you'd obviously need to be able to get a heat mat under it to protect the surrounding components whilst using a blow-torch to solder it on, use a copper or brass pipe olive available in 22mm and 3/4" if the 22 is tight, or put cut a diagonal in the olive so it can expand or contract to size and then solder it on

Looks like thers enough room to get a welder in there, just put a blob of weld on there. failing that hairspray and a couple of hose clips.
