    Uh oh geartronic problem v70 t5 2000

Every now and then between 2 3 and 4th gear my gearbox seems to what i can only describe as stick in neutral. Its mainly when stop start driving round town. My head tells me its something to do with alternator power output. Hoping its not a sign of the gearbox on way out. It's had a fluid change before i got it not at volvo and not sure what fluid was used. It hasnt been plugged in for software updates yet. Hasnt thrown any messages up on dash either.
Most of the time it's fine just every now and then it does this.
    Any tips?

    RUN!!

Only joking, first check the colour of the fluid then get the software updates. Why do you think its the alternator?

I can't get to the dipstick! I can see it but can't for the life of me figure out how to get to it. Just something in my head thinks the alternator is getting ready for renewing. Lights dim when using electrics from cold etc. Has had new battery. Also comes up dtsc service every so often but that is random.
Hopefully going to get it to volvo this month and get them to service it and do updates.

    Update:

Checked fluid yesterday and its on minimum and no where near cherry red. Going to top it up today with some dextron 3 while i look into doing a fluid change. Think whichever garage charged kyebosh for it pulled the wool over his eyes.

to confirm the correct level tyou have to connect it to vida and it measures electronically at the correct tempreture because of expansion.

Don't put dextron 3 in the box as its the wrong fluid for the gearbox .

This is true on the six speed autos 2006 year on as there is no dipstick fitted on these cars only a level bung at the back of the box which is only at a set temp/volume of fluid.

Up to 2006 has a dip stick fitted, the only thing is the temp.

Gsf listed it as correct oil on their website. Not used it yet so will take it back. Pfv list genuine atf at £16 is that a good price?
