I think Leedsfinest managed to rebuild his on his S60R (I think it was him, not 100% on that) but it failed after a while.

    Bummer mate.

It's something I'd have a go at but luckily, I've managed to not do it. I came close a while ago, when I had my wishbones off, just about got away with it tho.

Not had chance to have a go at it will have a bash after work. I doubt very much I'll be able to do it with my limited mechanical knowledge and very short temper lol I'll prob just end up replacing it. Would it have to be from a 6 speed box like mine?

There's a thread where a few of us have shared our experiences on the subject, It's been about recently too.

Basically you need to feed the spring compressor up inside the middle of the spring and jack the hub down to get it all out - it's a pig and those springs are BIG mate, and the hole it has to go through isn't very big.

Personally, I undid the trailing arm but that seems to screw with the rear tracking a bit. I also snapped a bolt which took 2 hours to remove

Try this it's the thread I was on about.
