    Un-wanted Trip reset

Ok, this is getting a little annoying on my otherwise brilliant car now. It's happened a few times bit it will randomly reset both trip counters when I go to drive home from work. Does anyone know what causes this?

I suggest you learn to enjoy the comical resetting of your trip computer. Learn to love it's randomness, the way you would love a puppy with a bladder problem. Cos this is the most fun you'll have with it, before it rapes yoyr wallet.
Brick's right tho mate. It could take a week or years but your speedo is gonna get progressively worse.

IF you adjust your clock and its carry's on going, its a sign of DIM failure, also the trip resetting too!

As Steve says, use this guy on Ebay, OR, he's on the VOC too. I used him last year and my clocks have been perfect ever since.
I sent them recorded mail on the Monday and the came back on the Wedneday. It takes 5 mins to get them out and there's a video
on Youtube on how to do it

DONT forget to take the battery lead off for 30 mins or so first though

    Thankyou, Goodnight....much love

My D5 does the same thing from time to time but its only the trip that resets and it has had the dim replaced for the one with the chrome rings?

mine has the later DIM with the metal rings - was told I shouldn't have DIM failure on this

I've been led to believe that too. The metal ringed DIM's were the revised versions - failure proof almost.

saw elsewhere this was a software issue that some volvo dealers were aware of? I'll try ringing one in the week if I get a chance. problem is I cant afford this car to have any down time as I have a 68 mile round trip to work every day and this is my only car on the road (if it came to it i'm sure I could stick temp cover on my beemer but I really dont want to use it)

Tech bulletin is TNN37-27-2004-03-12 DIM Software

    30677020

This is the technical bulletin and software part number to fix this apparently. Mine does it too but can't justify the cost really, too many other things to fix first!
