Hi from T5 Scumrun Project May 2013

    Hi

As fans of the T5, but never getting round to owning one due to general life commitments, my friend and i have managed to get an excuse passed the wife's! Some call it a mid-life crisis, but we are purely doing it in the name of charity.

My friend an I are taking part in the 2013 Scumrun in May to raise money and awareness for the children's charity Wellchild.
The costs of travel and car is down to us so we'd appreciate any help that you guys can offer. Happy to use the car for advertisement etc Documentation can be provided to prove that we are not just trying to get things for free or benefit financially!

We were looking for a car that needed to be reliable, comfortable and within the budget for our 3000 mile European road trip and we believe the T5 is all of that plus more!

We've picked up a 3 owner 1997 850 CD T5 Auto Estate with 130k, with history, fairly clean and 10 months MOT and Tax for £500.

Now, we're a looking at modifying it (subtly) in order to have a little fun on the way, but would be extremely grateful for any help and advice!

We are not after freebies (although they would be nice ) but more recommendations on to how we an get the best power/ reliability out of her without going overboard on the money front.

So far we are looking at a remap to up the power, swapping the shocks/ springs to tighten her up and swapping the bumpers to the mk2 shape (please correct me if im wrong!), plus adding the tailgate spoiler.

We will also be wrapping her in vinyl. Initial thoughts were Matt black, but to be honest we love the Touring car look!

We'd appreciate any comments, suggestions and pointers.

Hello and welcome, You can get a HLM exchange ecu remap for £150. I might be willing to do some vinyl cutting if that helps?

Good mate of mine did the scum run 3 years ago in a mondeo diesel. He loved it & is planning to do it again when his mrs is 100% again. I think you need a blow up doll for the back seat. Sadly I can't give you mine as she has a puncture.
Wish you all the best of luck & stick a link to sponser you up.
