    cleaning the throttle body

How hard / easy is it to clean this ?
I've had the codes read and I've been advised to clean it out rather than buy a new one.

I've cleaned mine and it took me about 7 hours.

You'll need to remove the radiator fan (undo the electrical connectors first!), the turbo pipe connected to the intercooler and the bottom of the ETM plus an airhose. There are 4 bolts holding the ETM to the bottom of the inlet manifold, they are a fiddle to get at but possible with a socket set and a small extention. From what I remember there are 4 Torx 25 (possibly 30) on each corner and once you have them out the ETM will just drop down. The cable is tucked in behind a metal plate or something (can't remember fully) near the bottom of the engine bay in the middle, but that just unbolts and the cable will come out from the engine bay nice and easily.

I'd advise using a mirror to see what you are doing when trying to undo the 4 bolts as it's easier to line the torx driver up with the bolts. Most of it will have to be done by feel though. Assembly is a lot easier as you know what you're doing.

One last piece of advice, make sure you reconnect all the electrical cables and do the jubilee clips up properly, ensuring all the pipes are reconnected correctly too.

Some pictures I took during the job (may be useful for reference purposes).....

    Wow, 7hrs James
The joys of having a ramp is I took mine off, cleaned it, and back on in under an hour.
Without taking all the fans etc off as well :-D
Seems a lot more smoother and more responsive.
Touch wood the EML hasn't come back on yet.
    Happy dayzzles.

You don't have to remove all that, MRG did mine and I think they only took off the intercooler pipe
    Thanks

I found it easier to take all the stuff off, considering my limited tools and mechanical experience (virtually nil), I think 7 hours wasn't a bad attempt. I also saved a nice chunk in garage labour.
