Induction kit or panal filter & drilled air box?

As the title says what are you guys running? Had an interesting chat today saying I'm crazy for buying a panal. Will I still get chatter without a cone filter?

You shouldn't get chatter as your still running normal air intake. Unless you got it before on normal gear. Induction cone filters give "chatter" as it hasn't got any sound stopping walls like normal filter housings. If I was you if stick to a panel performance filter, get your cold air feed, to make the turbo work better for longer losing no performance through heat. Cone induction kits need a cold air feed supply to keep the air going down cold as the filter is located in the engine bay allowing it to suck in all the warm air from the engine, making your turbo lose boost! Or put your filter in the grill so it gets lots of cold air and get chatter sounds!

my fastest quarter mile time was with an open cone filter, & i don't run cold air feeds. & if you think about it, sitting idling in the fire-up lane has got to be the worst situation it could possibly want

Mine chatters as it has no filter in it as I found out today, wether its had one with the previous Lemon I don't know. I've been In a few cars with air boxes that chatter, my mates Escort Cosworth for one. I understand the principles of heat soak etc but not all cars suffer from it. Being a vauxhall head I know they suffer so I've always had panal filters. I prefer the oe look of it. I'm not keen on the dump valve sound though.... I'll play it by ear I think when it arrives next week. For £24 I'll see how it go's & maybe get an induction kit later.its all exhaust tone at the moment as it has a fat stainless on it.

I recommend the simota air intake. The chatter you get off that sound like you have darth vader stuck under the bonnet getting hit in the head every time you lift offthe throttle. Doesn't change the induction sound. But does make the turbo whistle like Mary poppins. Lmao
I don't break gearboxes. Just engine mounts.............

What about putting a Kn'N panel filter in the standard box for a 2.4 D5, will it make much difference to the power/economy? (Obviously I'm not worried about chatter )
