HU-803 CD Changer Unit Swap - You CAN do it if needed, and heres an easy how to

I had to do this as the replacement unit i bought off Ebay wouldnt light up and the steering wheel buttons didnt work. Some of you may need to do this in the very near future

Start off with your HU 803

Remove the cup holder and mounting bracket

Remove top cover, only 4 screws, the one on the left rear is the long one

    Top

    Rear

Now take off both side panels, lots of screws, a few long ones, so note where they go

Unhook the CD unit from the rubber dampers at the rear

Lift the CD unit at the rear and pull out, and disconnect the ribbon cable (no need to remove the front fascia)

This is what your left with

Take your working CD unit rebuild in reverse order, just make sure that the CD unit is mounted on the rear dampers and the earth strap on the CD unit
is screwed in with a long screw on the left rear of the stereo

The hardest bit is getting the DAMN stereo back in the dash (well it was for me)

    Enjoy
