Get trading standards involved (if you've not already), failing that threaten them with the national papers, see how dirtying their name works.

It's amazing how much more cooperative companies tend to be once trading standards get involved. Hope you manage to get it sorted out bud, there's nothing worse than being treated like a second class citizen just because you dont own a brand new car.

What Volvo have to remember is, when you took your car to them to sort it out, you actually entered into a verbal contract. If you signed a job card, then that's a written contract. Now even if the Dealer sub contracted the work to an outside agent to come in a repair your dash, the contract is still between YOU and the DEALER! Not the cowboy dash bodger.

So, it's down to Volvo to rectify the mess and put your car right. Any moneys lost, well that's just tough sh i t! They can argue the toss with the cowboys they employed to try and fix your car, that ain't your problem Martyn.

if Volvo choose not to correctly fix your car to a high standard required by Volvo UK then they are in breach of contract.

That's why 1) you need to involve Trading standards and 2) You must threaten them with court action but give them opportunity to put it right.

Hi guys. Yes I've been off here for a while for many reasons, mainly lack of time.

The car is fine thou i haven't spent a penny on it in 4 months. She goes into Stuarts on Friday cos i noticed the front O/S CV gaiter has split.

That's the exact angle we've been working Lee, (I've had some input regarding correspondence with the dealer) and they're not willing to budge. Using the age of the car as some kind of get out clause. The last reply I saw (what I could read of it) made my blood boil. Bottom line is - they screwed it up, or allowed it to be screwed up and it's down to them to put it right.

I still think Martyn should put their email address up on the forums and let us barrage them

It's a shocking repair and a truly terrible manager you're dealing with.
Hopefully you have some "before" pictures that show the marks they were meant to fix. TS would really love to see them if you have, then they'll drag the dealer over the coals.

It's a sobering story for the rest of us, in future if my car needs any cosmetic repairs I'll make damn sure I have plenty of photos taken and date stamped the day it goes in. At least then if they screw up I'll be able to prove it without a doubt!

    Good luck with the repairs

I still hope this gets amicably sorted as if it turns sour it could become costly and very drawn out...

What I don't understand is why did the repairer not do a colour check before carrying out the so called repair.

Well, looking at those photos I'd say the dealer is certainly gonna be on his back foot when TS get their teeth into this. Those pictures show the general overal condition to be good and the car has obviously been well cared for, they also clearly show the small areas that required repair and you have "after" photos showing the extent of the damage done by the bodger. I think they'll be forcing the dealer to return the car to the condition it was before they tried to fix it - or if that's not possible they'll have to replace the components that were damaged whilst in their care.

Having had dealings with TS helping me with a cowboy roofer they simply love this sort of thing, particularly when you have good evidence of someone being at fault. Those photos are gold

This is getting put to bed now. Trading standards called up strathmore. They are saying it took me a year to do anything about the repair so as far as the court is concerned they will throw the case out as I was happy with the repair!!! They deny my original phone call only a matter of days after my repair complaining about it. I was told just take the car down, I said I wont be down until my next service in one years time or unless something goes wrong with the car. The repair was done in July and the first trace I have of complaining was the following January when I said I will be coming in past on the way up from mrg, this didn't happen due to the car breaking down and being held up in snow.
im gutted and feal like a mug.
    Thanks
