i get where your coming from, especially on the time flying by & confrontation part. However the fact the main dealer got a third party to do the work is irrelevant to me, i assume it was MRG who got them in & took the money off you for the job. I'd of expected the service manager to be onto them & chasing up the repairs on your behave. Hope it gets sorted for you Friday

Got an old discovery now.
I only let Keith at K-Tech Automotive touch my car now. I used to take it to the local Main Stealer, partly because one of my mates works there and I knew the girl that works on the service desk and she always sorted me out with a reasonable price.
So the car has an intermittent fault with one of the Xenon headlights going on and off randomly on its own. Car is booked in, picked up by volvo and they call me the next day to tell me they've stripped the headlight out, cleaned the terminals and the bulb and everything seems ok and it'll be £150. I thought that was a bit steep but paid it anyway and picked the car up that night. Worse was to come. I got in the car that night to drive home, put the ignition on and the headlight wipers did a sweep over the headlights but one of them went past the stop and took a huge chunk out of my bumper and sat there hanging down. I drove less than 2 miles and the light started going on and off again. So took the car straight back and posted the keys through the letterbox.
Phoned up the following afternoon and spoke to a manager and he said they had found the fault and it needed a new bulb because it was cracked and a new ballast resistor. That'll be £500 please. WTF?? How do you get that price? £350 for parts and £150 for labour! So a heated argument ensued and I basically told him he could stick the labour up his.........! He then said that the first time I paid £150 labour and it was sorted. How could it be if it was still doing the exact same thing. In the end he backed down and did it labour free as a good will gesture lmao. The Girl on the service desk phoned me a bit later very apologetic and asked me if I'd noticed the bumper which I hadn't even got around to telling them about because I was waiting for the headlight to be sorted. I said yes and she told me that the 'fitter' (He obviously wasn't a technician) had not put the wiper on correctly after refitting the front bumper. She got someone in the next day to repair the damage and to be fair he did a cracking job. In the end it cost me £350 for the headlight bulb and a resistor pack. But the anger and shocking customer service from the 'MANAGER' put me off for life. Ok everyone makes mistakes and you get incorrect diagnosis sometimes but to argue with a customer about a problem on a car that clearly wasn't fixed and start raising his voice to me because I refused to pay 2 lots of labour for one job was shocking. The girl on service couldn't apologise enough bless her. Luckily for my mate it wasn't him that had worked on my car but one of the other guys. But this just shows the difference in customer service compared to an independent.
The only Main Dealer I've heard people really praise is MRG, and all credit to them for bucking what seems to be a horrible trend!
