Afaik, it'll just make it louder, most of the back compression comes from the cat so probably little or no performance increase but fun in a tunnel

When I had my custom exhaust made for the D5, the guys cut open my back box to show me it's construction and how much they restrict the flow compared to a straight through silencer.

    Just thought I'd share....lol

Thanks for the pic, I've been toying with the idea of bypassing my rear silencer...

Considering where the exhaust gases have to flow - it makes sense to either get rid of the rear box altogether or replace it with a straight through silencer.

On my P1, when I swapped my OE system for a larger bore one, I had the option of fitting a centre baffle and decided not to. Sounds just fine, subtle yet a noticeable 'performance sound'. If I fitted the centre box, I suspect it would be just too quiet. Probably the same with your P2.

As Martin says, the CAT is the biggest restriction in the system........its my next project on the exhaust side to either de cat or at least fit a race cat/downpipe. Then I will probably consider the centre box so as not to draw attention to myself!
