    S80 V8 or S80 T6 which do you think is 'better'

    I'm thinking of buying a second hand S80 next year(not the day after tomorrow) & I'm considering a T6 or a V8(purchaseprice is more or less the same ) tax is a (big) difference in Belgium: T6:900€, V8 2200€/year but, Insurance is the same(based on KW) it should replace my 2005 V70R
    which one would you prefer & why

    I'd keep the R, it's a much nicer car.

    The lack of MPG is a very big point as well.

    Punchy performance - Go for the T6.
    V8 is automatic only. I'd expect it to be a very smooth on acceleration and quiet..

    I can't see the V8 being much more reliable. Possibly the V8 was for the American market as it is slower and less economic than a T6..

    Neither - T6 engine problems, V8 sounds good, but has the GM slushbox AFAIK, which are mega problems and mega bucks to fix, I would keep the R, or go for a S60 with the 2.4 T5

    Sorry, but i might consider an S80 when i'm 80. i think they are boring looking.

    If i had to choose then it would be the T6, then i would immediately sell it and buy a Merc.....or another R!! However...keep the R.

    as they said, keep the R

    otherwise:
    T6 - lovely sound, nice speed, more miles for yr moneys in fuel.
    V8 - lovelier sound, meh speed, omg fuel costs

    R = win, win! \o/

    having enjoyed a gm slushmatic gear box in my bmw 530d and having to shell out £1740 to fix the §§§§§§ i'd say avoid them like the plauge!!
    I'd say keep the R too. V8 sounds good but overly expensive and i've seen numerous t6's on ebay as spares or repairs with engine troubles

    Yeh i know its probably not what you want to hear but personally id keep the v70r aswel. im a big 850 fan myself. wasnt aware of there being a production s80 v8 which does sound like one of them cars ud just have to drive atleast once in your life time. t6's....ive seen and heard a few but by the time they get to me for a chance to buy theres always something wrong with um :-).
    Good luck mate i hope it works out well, got a feeling you might end up kicking yourself if you let the R go though :-).
