    Coil spring cushion or isolator

Hi guys in need of some help I have an annoying rattle from the front passenger side going over rough Tarmac now everything seems to be tight and in working order had it checked 2days ago just before it went for its mot it passed no problem but they couldn't find where this rattle is coming from.
I've seen other topics similar to this but no one seems to have an answer only thing I've seen is u can get spring cushions this supposedly stops it I'd rather get these first rather than replace everything for it still to be there so does anybody know of a seller in the uk that stocks them only place I can find are in America

    Cheers guys

Do you get the rattle when coming on and off the power?

If I'm driving on a steady throttle it does it I tried coasting with the clutch in and it does it only time time I think it stops is when I boot it also noticed if nobodies in the car I can turn the steering wheel to a certain point and it makes a vibrating noise also noticed a vibration when idle sometimes I've got poly bushes on the front so I'm used to vibration in the cabin but this vibration is really loud
Also worth noting it happens when I'm on the driver side but if I get out and sit in the passenger side it goes away at a standstill maybe I'm fat I don't know lol but it's really annoying me

Not a problem with the passenger seat is it?
I know it sounds daft but my drivers seat makes a "clonk" noise when I shift my weight around and it sounds like it's coming from the lower engine mount.

There's some plastic coil stuff you can wrap around the spring base to see if it helps confirm or disprove the noisy spring theory.

Dont think its the seat the noise is definetly coming from front passenger side strut noticed aswell the vibration I was talking about only seems to happen when I turn the wheel left partly

May solve it but could be just an expensive guess.

It's always tricky, diagnosing problems like this without actually being there and having a butchers. There's so many variables that what would seem like a sure thing could easily turn out to be complete balls

Yeh I know could spend a lot of money and it solves nothing I had the top strut mounts replaced 2 years ago but never done the spring seats had the conversation with my old man today if it would be worth replacing the spring seat he said no cos there nothin wrong with either mount I trust him cos hes a mechanic and engineer to trade but hes had a look and the garage that done the mot looked and found nothing but my first thought was either strut mount or spring seat but I suppose the only way to see is change them to see

Glad I am not the only one with this. When I move about in seat or go round corners it is like a metallic clonk. Bit annoying but have got used to it. suspect that it will be too much hassle to sort.

if you check with your volvo dealer they actually do a rubber cusion kit,for the p2 as its got a known issue with volvo for rattles from front struts,
i cant get onto my auto data thing now but there is part numbers for it etc...
its just a rubber platform for the spring to sit on and i think one for the top of the spring iirc.
i dont think it was expensive either.

mine also had a sort of sheath that clipped over the first half a coil on the bottom of the spring. it can be fitted and removed without tools. I took it off when I changed the springs and now I get the odd "clang" when cornering hard over bumps

Nope not a drop link I got them done last year they're the hd ones cos I know how fragile they can be everythings fine with all the parts under there but when I checked on my programme last night it says its a common fault resonace from the wheel transfers through the strut causin the annoying rattle
