Holy thread revival Batman! I was just digging around on Turbobricks and stumbled across the S90R, I've never even heard of an S90 before let alone an R! Did we get them here? They're pimp!

We got S90s but Rs never excited.

Ah I assume people just put R bumpers on and labeled them thusly.

Nah, I don't think he did change the badging.

S90s are just the run out 960s, they changed the name to match the C/S/Vxx badging across the range at the time.

Sadly, they never got a turbo'd whiteblock, just a N/A 2.5 or 3.0 24v usually mated to an auto 'box.

Although rumour has it that Volvo used the 960 as a test bed for the T6 motor later used in the S80 and XC90.

They are ripe for T6 or T5 conversions though

I'm sure I read somewhere the T6 bolts up to an M56 so would be a relatively easy conversion in one! T6's sound ace too

Everything bolts up to everything, accept the 960 iirc.

I'd be very interested / thinking about a s60 t6 manual conversion, to make a polestar rep.

Basically it's, m66c, diff turbo, exhaust and blue printed engine are the main things they did to get power up.

Pretty quick 6.9 to 60 is similar, I think they were quicker than the respective supercharged range rover.

I'm guessing you can get a lot out of the engine, there isn't much available but there is a map to 350 ish.

But being a v8 a good blueprint, map and revised injectors / new cam got to be 400 or near.
