Damaged wood effect trim - quick fix!

    Ok,
Got some wood trim with a chip or scratch?

    Annoying aint it?

Sitting there, mocking you... And if, like the pics here, it's on a steering wheel, you can feel it too!

    Here's what you do...

first give it a good clean with some lighter fluid or the like.

Then grab yourself some cheap acrylic paints...

On a white plate, mix a good colour match... (I used burnt umber and black) Don't use your mum's best china y'all!

Now mix up some Araldyte, or any cheaper brand of epoxy resin... (don't get that near a plate if you wanna use it again)

And mix it with the acrylic...
For the finish you'll get, it doesn't matter if you waste a load so mix up as much as you like to get it right...

Now with a tooth pick, dab some of your epoxy colour into the chip, using a clean pick to clear up any excess...

Leave it to settle for a bit and use another pick to level it off - if it domes - out from the surface, use the pick to remove a small amount or use the pick to add a small aount if needed...

Allow it to dry and admire your handywork

It really is that easy peeps - give it a go
19t, greens, 3" inlet, 3" downpipe with race cat, V70R catback, autotech map...

    Quick update,
I wasn't 100% happy with the finish of the repair (could feel it when I ran my hand round it) so I bought one of these...

£4.50 from aldi. Comes with a sponge wedge, cloths, 2000gr sandpaper and 2 polishing pastes...

I followed the instructions as if I were repairing a deep scratch or chip and within 15 minutes or so, the repair is almost undetectable.

    Happy days.

This repair kit, if used properly, is brilliant - you just need to be brave with the sandpaper.

I know I keep saying it but It's so easy and makes such a difference that I had to share it.

I can't see it not working on things like a damaged gear knobs or door handles.
