    Unhappy Electrical problem

Recently battery started to go flat all the time!!, I checked the obvious,...courtesy lamps etc...
Basically, the battery died so I bought a new one, didnt use the car for 5 days and it went flat again.
Now it is charged and in the car the climate control warning lights flash (both recirc/aircon off lights) for 20 seconds.

There is an alarm on the car....volvo standard one....no lights are staying on..
    Any ideas please??

HI you havent given alot of info!!! What volvo is it? model?
Also, being an AA patrol and mechanic for 15 years i can tell u that u have most definately got a battery drain somewhere! The aircon lights flashing mean that the aircon ecu has detected a fault and stored it. It may be unrelated but best to get checked out at main dealer as aircon related faults are mostly VERY expensive. The lights should not flash if the aircon needs regasing so go get it checked b4 u do anything. As far as the battery is conserned you must find the drain. It is most probably an interior light or the boot light. Good luck. Need anymore help... just reply!!

Check the output on the alternator and the tension on the serpentine belt. That for starters!

We faced one 850 which has christmas tree on the dash from all those idiot lights. Main cause = alternator. After a change, all the lamps mentioned, went away.

N ot the same car, but a similar problem, we have an astra, it too runs fine during the week, starts everyday, then each monday the dam thing won't start, and yes, jump start it, run all week no problem.... then we ha to look deeper....
cut a long story short, check all the obvious things like lights, boot light etc... but something inside the car has caused a drain of .5 amps constant, doesn't sound a lot but it will drain a battery over a weekend.... so the moral is, charge the battery, then pull out each fuse in turn and then plug it back in... see if there is a spark when it connects.. that's what pointed us to our problem.. one of the fuse sparked more than you would expect... we know which one, but can we find out what is causung the drain!!!!

We just remove the fuse over night and plug it in in the morning.. not ideal, but it would cost loads for an auto electrician to find and fix..

Does this help? maybe not, but at least your not alone out there?

Bizarre...it fixed it self....Air Con working fine now....no climate control errors...
Can only imagine the ECU re set after first failure....
