I seam to remember a problem with the fluid frothing up in the tank which would make the pump noisy,a pipe or fitting would fall off inside the tank to cause a problem?.

It's basically just a bit that falls off inside the tank. When it does, it causes foaming of the fluid. If it has fallen off, just retrieve it (it'll be rolling around in the bottom of the tank) and re attach it with some super glue or epoxy resin.
If you're feeling flush... replace the tank

I've used this stuff before on my T5. It stopped the rack leaking and as soon as the stuff hit the reservoir a whining noise that I didn't even know I had suddenly stopped !. Well worth a go.

its also a lubricant, that will shut up a lot of noises, and delay need for new rack etc (possibly to a point beyond life of rest of car),

I used this on my `97 V70 T5 and the rack carried on leaking from the top seal, but it does say on an advert perhaps a second bottle may be needed!!

My pump was making a loud whine and so does it`s 2nd hand replacement with Lucas oil in it!!!!

It is the pump ,so where to now??

To be honest mine was leaking out of the rack boot ends and the leak didn't stop immediately, it actually took a couple of months to stem the flow but it has been through 2 MOT's since without issues (and it was literally squirting out of the rack boots before !)
