Can you use a M58 gear box without the tranfer box?? As i have one spare and need rid

Hi all, ive recently replaced my angle gear and m58. Reverted it back to awd with a nice newly built Prop from a company in bristol. But my Machanics said it was only the angle gear that failed and caused a flickering noise and the M58 box was ok. I just wanted to know as he said i should sell the gear box instead of taking it to the tip. But suggested i find out from you volvo vet's if i can sell it or not? As i have a conscience and would hate to sell something that was worthless.

The M58 will leak around the output shaft without the angle gear being connected, so really it needs to be on an AWD car.

Definitely don't scrap it, you might need it some day, they're not cheap!

I'm stockpiling parts for my AWD as the day will come when bits for AWD will be like hens crooked teeth lol
