    internal to external slave

    at the minute i have an internal slave on my m59 i am looking to put an m56 on with external slave, what work is needed to make this happen? cheers

    or can i leave it as internal on an m56?

    So, are you going to 1 wheel drive, or are you putting an lsd in?

    I don't know mate, but there has to be a way of fitting R shafts onto a T5 box.

    There are 2 types of M56 gearbox,

    M56 with external slave.
    M56 with internal slave.

    If the M56 has an internal slave you cant use an external slave ( I found this out when I changed engines )

    its an L reg box so will be external

    The internal slave has different mounting holes, you'd need to remove the thrust bearing sleeve off thee M56, then drill and tap new holes to mount the internal slave unit. Volvo actually did a retrofit kit some years ago.
    1996 Olive Green 850 AWD - Follow the Project - Forged rods, 19T, big blue injectors, 960 TB, 3.25" MAF, Ostrich, 608 binary, arduino data display, active exhaust control with Focus RS tips, 320mm front brake conversion.
    1996 Nautic Blue 850 AWD - Failed its MOT, now it's a donor for the green thing.
    2004 Sapphire Black S60 D5 - The new daily hack.
