Are they bosch super 4s, if so i have had nothing but problems with them, exactly the same happened in my cougar v6

my theory is something went down the hole when i changed the plugs, smashing the plug in, and mullering the top of the piston

And I thought I had engine problems a couple of months ago! This looks like a problem. Try fitting a new spark plug and see if it's just a faulty plug that you had.

Depending on what has fallen down have you tryed a magnet pen to see if it picks any thing up

Take the head off and see what the damage is first before you look for another engine

Have you turned this over by hand since removing the plug?

just a thought, as they were new spark plugs have you checked they were the right ones? I assume as most retailers do they give a pre-packed set of 4 & a single one, is there any chance the odd one was wrong & too long?
