radio Signal Problem on my V70 P2

    Arghhhhh.....

    Ok .....

Been trying to sort out getting a signal to my car radio,

the radio works fine in the wifes car,

howver , looked at the leads at the rear on the volvo fine,

looked at near side roof aerial amp in roof above rear window all looks ok,

looked at boot at off side area where the cover comes off, one aerial cable loose, but nothing there I can see to plug it into?

    Im baffled ....

Can anyone give me any ideas please?

Yes could just listen to the ipod/cds, but like to listen to the radio sometimes ...

    Thanks

I've always wanted to know where is the aerial on the P2 V70? I can't see anything that looks like the radio aerial so where is it?

Yep. It's in the rear bumper. On my S60, the ariel connection is down low, underneath the OSR light unit. You can't really see it very easily, more a case of feeling for it. I guess it's in the same place on a V70!? It's only a non-locking push fit, so might be worth checking that's connected.

The ariel system is not the most sensitive.

Have you tried cleaning the window connections before you go rummaging about in the depths of the ass-end of the car?
They are a sort - of popper and come off relatively easily with some persuasion.

Mine wasn't too bad till I got a new stereo and it's really sensitive to bad signals

Gonna have to go rummaging... although, with all the plod aerial wires and general spaghetti in there, I don't really want to lol.

    Thanks MP,

tried that ,,, its such a pain,

yes the police wiring is a nightmare !!

Bumper will have to come off...

on the off side boot cover area near lights is an unattached aerial lead ... this isnt the police ones so hopefully this has just come off something somewhere?

    Thanks Ploppy

I have that wire, I thought is was part of the plod loom - especially as I have the same one on the other side.

I've just had a thought - when I changed my roof lining, I had to remake the wiring loom for the roof as I was a bit "eager" removing the loom from the donor car.
Any way, I had to fit the aerial cable as I had broken the replacement. this aerial wire originates from the n/s A - pillar.
    This would suggest several possibilities...
    1. there isn't an aerial in the rear bumper,
    2. the one in the rear bumper is for L/W or S/W radio reception
    3. the one in the window is for L/W or S/W radio reception
    4. There are actually 2 separate aerial wires and Volvo have added 18 more feet of wire than they actually needed.

My money's on answer 1 as the aerial wire to the back of the stereo is the same size as the wire coming from the glass.

I just find it weird that there can be 2 aerials and only one wire...?

Hows married life treating ya Martyn?

    Windscreen end, passenger side

There's a big green connector DON'T disconnect it without having the neutral off the battery for a couple of hours or you'll get an srs warning that won't go away.

    Had exactly same problem
After having booster, ariel, leads etc etc replaced, it turned out to be my 12v Grifin cigarette usb charger, ok in last car but stops signal in xc60D5

6 months no radio, ok now

    FFS!

    Hope it helps
