    Retrofit RTI screen

Has anyone retro-fitted the RTI screen in any volvo, pref a V70 P2 of course?

Keen to stick it on the dash and mainly use it as a rear-view camera monitor

It'll probably cost you more than a new hi def one with all the trimmings, just to have the gen volvo one programmed to work in your car mate.

Lol, a valid point, you gotta have something to do once you've got bored of all 4 windows.

You should get yourself a boost gauge, hours of entertainment to be had there lol.

I wouldn't want mine touch screen. It's a stretch with the left hand to reach when driving, apart from being dangerous! The screen would also get dirty. I like the controls on the steering wheel...means you can play on the move without leaning forwards and mucking about. Nowt wrong with the control method, IMHO. Just a shame it doesn't do postcodes, thou with the up to date discs it's pretty damn spot on, every time!

One of my suppliers got himself a fully loaded XC90 and he showed me the RTI thing... A joystick/keypad remote control? now using that on the move would be dangerous lol, besides, don't they all say you shouldn't operate the nav while driving? mine won't even display a map until I promise not to use it while moving.
There's no fingerprints on it too - I wipe my chocolate-y fingers on the cream leather first pmsl

I have the hand held remote control. It is intended for use by the front passenger. The driver uses the column control.

Still looks like a faff lol

Trying to type an address via the steering wheel buttons... I suppose you get used to it. I prefer tapping the postcode in on the screen - and that's another thing - the screen size on the Volvo unit is a bit small too.

Call me a victim of these modern times, the bigger the screen the better imho, unless you're watching porn in 3D, then you'll be diving for cover...

I actually liked the RTI in my C70, I think it operates the same as the V70 with the controls behind the steering wheel, I found it really easy and accurate to use. I don't know why Jeremy Clarkson thinks it's a awful system. If you want a crap one buy a hilux my dad's touch screen is fiddly and as Lee says it's a real stretch to operate.
    Thanks
    Martyn
