S70 T5 Manual Aircon not working

    Hello all,

Just had my aircon regassed as it never worked when I bought the car. It's holding gas with seemingly no leaks, but the compressor fails to start when
    I switch the aircon on.

The good news is that I bridged the compressor relay in the fusebox under the bonnet, and after some pretty hideous noises (don't think it had moved in a fair few years) the compressor now spins up nicely and icey cold air comes out of the vents.

I put a multimeter across the power for the relay, and it's getting none, so the relay isnt being told to switch on the compressor. I've heard the Low Pressure switches are a problem, so I have bridged that, and no change, 0 volts at the relay.

    What else can I bridge?

Just stick a flip switch in the dash somewhere (Write Nos on it if you like) and operate it manually lol.

The thought had crossed my mind in taking the power from the little green LED for "Aircon on" and running it to the relay....

But would rather work out what's playing up so I can look to replace it!

Fair enough. There's various temp sensors dotted about the car, perhaps one of those has failed? That would be my best guess.

Google and various threads on forums tell me that on my car (that is WITHOUT climate control) there are only a few things it can be:
The high pressure switch, the compressor overheating safety switch, or the heater blower resistor.

A failed blower resistor will not allow you to use the first 3 speeds on the fan motor, so it can't be that as mine works at all speeds.
The high pressure switch has 3 wires going to it, so it's not obvious which ones I should be shorting!
There is no obvious safety switch on the compressor, but can have a look from underneath when I get it back to my garage.

Anyone with experience with §§§§§§ed aircon?
