Weighing cat in.

Finally got a S/hand cat to replace mine that was rattling, many thanks to a member on here.
Well went weigh my old one in at the recyclers and was told that if it rattled they are not worth anything!!
Strange considering it's still got the presious metals in it surely!! just moving around a bit!!
Is this case in other peoples experience?

Fraid so....I work opposite a non- ferrous scrappy and they pay virtually nothing for a rattly cat as its broken inside....as you say,mad,as the metals are in there!!
I cut open a cat off my old sierra years ago as it was rattly,all the honeycomb like stuff was there,just in bits!!

Maybe if its rattly the scrappys think its been tampered with?!
