    Question Turbo downpipe

    Hi,

    What if any is the difference between a 850 and a early V70 turbo/downpipe flange ?

    1996 850 T5 AWD - Self tuned M4.4 ECU with COP`s, B5254T ( S60R internals in a 850 block ) ostrich 2.0 , VXR injectors @ 3.8 bar, K24 turbo with a 6+6 compressor wheel, 3.25" MAF, top mounted Dump Valve, RN Exhaust manifold, 3" downpipe with 200 cell cat, 2.75" Stainless exhaust, Brembo calipers, S60R brake discs, stainless RIP kit, 3" Throttle body,

    there are three different downpipe, conical (early 850), straight (late 850, p1 v70), angled (later v70)

    I've got a downpipe from a 95 850 that was fitted with a 15G straight flange but it will not fit on my 15G straight flange exhaust housing which is a early V70. The V70 one has a bigger flange.

    Pre 96 is the older type flange (conical) 96 and later is the larger flat flange.
    im not too sure when the 3" angled flange came in but im sure they didnt come fitted to any pre me7 cars

    R u sure it is 15g cos as far as I know all 70`s r 16t onwards

    they swopped to angled with the introduction of ME7

    When I changed engines I discovered that the engine that I was replacing was an early V70 ( had a DMF,a internal slave and a V70 cambelt tensioner )
    The turbo was a 15G, someone has changed this as the small location pin in the exhaust housing was broken.
    I have measured the inside of the turbo downpipe and it is 2 3/8 and the flange is part of the downpipe while the 95 downpipe is only 2 1/4 and has " running flange ".

    the down pipe for the conical turbos has a flange that can rotate where as the straight and angled turbos the flange is fixed to the down pipe
