    Lowering Springs

Hi, would be grateful for any recommendations re lowering springs for me AWD project.

Only limiting factor at the mo is that I cant afford eibach prices.

One thing I cant work out is whether the springs differ from FWD cars?

    Any help appreciated

    cheers

    Cheers Gary.

Wasn't sure if they were interchangable between FWD and AWD but that answers the question nicely I couldn't find AWD springs on ebay that took me as low as the R model.....thanks for your kind offer mate let me know how much you need for postage and packaging will happily paypal.

Reason for my confusion is that on my audis you couldnt swap the quattro springs between FWD and RWD

Quick update, cheers for offer Gary but waiting on set of new springs to be delivered this week...car is going in for some work soon so thought I'd get it all sorted at the same time.

Next on the list is stage one remap....I'm not going for T5 high bhp power levels (I would have bought another T5 if I wanted that)

I just want to exploit the mid range torque a bit more and make her quicker in the lower - mid power range. I was thinking, if I remap to 225/230bhp, then lower the car (lowering springs coupled to AWD will sharpen up handling) I would have a serious A to B motor come rain or shine

Can I ask where's the best place to go for a remap chaps- I don't mind traveling to get proper job - asking as I've had some seriously stupid prices quoted to me over past few days

    cheers

Not been in touch with Hamish yet....but my local garage tell me its highly unlikely I will be able to lower my AWD without buying a complete lowering kit as no one sells the springs alone and that Id have to get OEM V70R AWD springs which are near £200 each?

    Dont believe them

Looks like lowering the car wil cost more than what I paid for the car

Starting think I should have gone for T5 over AWD.....gutted

£650 for kit from America but there's import tax on that.

Deemon Tweeks who are sort of near had no idea.

AWD R springs same price from Stealer plus vat but i wanted it lower than standard. Never mind will just have to get my thinking cap on.

Might have to eat shed loads of pies and crisps to lower it when I'm in it. Or fill it with bricks and concrete lol

What does §§§§ me off is people who respond by saying why lower a 4 wheel drive....I don't off road I just wanted ultimate grip in all road conditions plus I think it looks ace.

Might have to settle on used .AWD R setup for the time being. If I'm right I think the fronts are same as FWD but rears are different...

I looked into this and cutting two coils seems to be a common way of lowering the back end - often married up to V70r front springs....foodo for though...not sure how safe it is hacking away at the rear springs though lol

Hi I have just fitted http://www.partsforvolvosonline.com/...oducts_id=7655

Nice improvement now on rails compared to the 15 year old previous set up... Why don't you give them a ring they were very helpful to me , Best of luck Kim

Before even trying to remove any nuts and bolts...Clean showing threads with wire brush ...plus gas ..heat.. and even then, cross fingers and pray ........

It's such a shame that Steve (dalhousie2008) has been banned from this site - he sold me my springs for £100 for the lot, only 1 year old off a car he was breaking. They will come up on this site if you wait around long enough but do try the other sites too if it's parts yer after.

After reading much on the net I think I've found a solution.

"Drop bolts" to drop the nivomats at the rear (think this is better than cutting coils) it looks like a straight forward jobby.

And then some V70R FWD lowering springs at the front - not sure yet if I have to buy set of 4, will have to look around.

Glad to have a plan as I was starting to think I'd have to sell her and buy a FWD...which isnt really keeping in with the master plan.
