    Just installed a Grom IPD-3

    Really impressed with it!!

Was mostly a piece of cake except I got massively stuck on removing the Climate Control Module to in turn remove the HU-803. After 45 mins of trying methods I'd read on various Google searches and VERY sore finger tips I gave in and called my friend who's a tech at RT Mechanics. He's a whizz at all things Volvo and as soon as I explained my predicament he talked me through a rediculously simple method that saw the CCM out in 5 secs flat with no effort. Don't you hate that!!! After having undone the two T25's at the bottom of the CCM, pull the bottom left hand corner out with your left hand, place your right index finger between the right edge of the CCM and the dash then push the bottom left corner back in. Don't worry, you won't crush your finger but the CCM will easily pop out.

Anyway, got it all in and it works a treat!! All original HU function still works including steering wheel controls, sound quality is superb (even better than CD!) and what I really like is I can now use my (Skobbler) satnav app which fades down music to give voice instructions. Got a neat little Griffin mount up near my right centre vent (not blocking it) so great view of the screen. My ideal setup really!

In the not the distant future I'll upgrade the kit to Bluetooth (£30 odd) which will negate the need for a cable and add handsfree calling function too. If that works as great as the music side I'd say it's be the ultimate handsfree / music streaming kit. I certainly wouldn't be interested in spending the amount of extra cash on iMiv just to have song names displayed on the HU. I can live without that!!

Will do. I took some this morning when I got to work but for some reason PhotoBucket is playing up for me at the moment so I can't get them up here at the moment. I will do as soon as I can though.

    Right, success!

    Here's the boxed product

And a few of it in situ. After spending some time considering where to mount it, this was my preference but there are a few other options. It's even window mountable if you prefer. In hindsight I wish I'd brought the cable out between the steering column cowel and the dash rather then bringing it up from underneath as there'd be less cable on show. This isn't too much of a bother for me though as I'll probably upgrade to Bluetooth anyway. (Though this won't charge the phone which will be an issue on journeys as music playback / satnav does suck the battery dry pretty quick)

Sorry for the dodgy photos, we're taken on another iPhone that couldn't deal with the bright light outside. I'll get better ones later if needed.

I have had the from kit fitted for some time.

The blue tooth addition is great for hands free calling etc...

Is it really good quality sound ? I take it with the bluetooth dongle all wires can be hidden away.

The sound is very good! I'm very impressed. Yes, the BlueTooth ext. will negate the need for any wires in the cabin and adds a mic making it a handsfree kit but, it'd be advisable to carry an in-car charger as any longish journey will surely drain your battery.

All wire free, unless the iPhone needs a charge.

I am very impressed with the sound quality.
