    Talking alloy subframe bushes

Replaced the rubber subframe bushes for some alloy bushes, went out for a long drive on some country roads to find out how the bushes will effect the road holding., WOW!!!!! No "wiggly" front end. I had a nasty little bounce or play in the front that made the handling soft and not as crisp. Now, no play, wiggle or anything! Nice and tight, I can feel that the front end is SOILD! The downside is that vibration is up! I mostly notice it at idle, when the car was cold, it reverberates thru the passenger compartment. I have poly top mount, but not a poly firewall bush so when you turn the engine off you hear a knocking. poly firewall bush is needed !!!!!

    ,.,

sounds good but im not sure alloy will last long as any movement or stress will wear at the alloy,
its too soft to withstand any real stresses...
i could be wrong tho lol.

The subframe fits on to two dowels on the near side which locates the subframe to stop it from moving. Also the subframe bolts are torqued up to150lbs/ft
Both my custom choppers are running alloy rear sprockets, one of them has covered 5k miles and is only just showing signs of wear......... alumiumin/alloy is no longer a soft metal, it can be harder than steel !!!

    yeah i know,
but if there is no movement in them then why are they being changed from rubber ?

if the rubber ones move then there must be some stresses on it ?

time will tell, they may be fine, which i hope im wrong

The verdict is, apart from some vibration in the cabin on tick over which goes when driving, they have improved the road holding, cornering and I have no plans to remove then and refit the rubber bushes
