    Any ideas for black trim??

Following on from this thread: http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/showthread.php?t=44139

I got a bit lazy when I was detailing it and didn't mask up the trims! Got some compound / polish on them whilst machining, and although I dressed them afterwards with Chemical Guys trim gel which is normally great, after 1 wash and some heavy rain the dressing is gone and the trims look a bit shabby.

Any suggestions to properly get rid of the whiteness and restore them to their former black glory??

I used to use black liquid shoe polish with a squeegee foam end, sounds crude, but I works and waterproof too. But now Ive had the plastics sprayed black...

Any recommendation where to get it?? I've used Forever Black dye before on black bumpers on my Fiesta which was good at 1st but after 9 months it's starting to get streaky. Perhaps it needs a second coat?

How easy do all the trims come off? Would it look wrong having them all smoothed and colour coded maybe!?

Try a pencil eraser.......the white plasticky one. That will shift most of the whiteness and then dress with any of the above (not sure about the engine oil though.....).

Cool. Any tips on removing the trim to dye it? I did my Fiesta ones on the car and got some on the paint (which I could mask up for) but also you can't quite get the bits that tuck in to the paintwork.

Asda boot polish (the applicator type) works wonders and lasts for ages (last car about 9 months). and no issue with getting it on the bodywork as it comes right off.

Wurth plastic dye is a trade only product. Easiest way to get it is to ask a local garage to get some for you ( if they use wurth products that is )
It's applied by sponge but on the tricky bits I use a modelling paintbrush. If you get any on the paint it'll wipe it off immediately with a damp cloth.

A picture is wurth ( geddit ) a thousand words.

    Salut!

Looks like the Würth stuff is the way to go. What would be everyone's opinion of smoothing and spraying the plastics gloss black?? Would certainly be different but I think would go well on the red?? Or just smooth and spray red!
