    Gearbox problem

Hi all, just been to drop my bro in law home, giving the car a strech of its legs and I noticed that gear 2-4 and reverse have extra movement in the lever, ie when I'm in 2nd the lever will pull back further than is normal.
Also going from 4th to 2nd results in the car seeming to go in gear but just a rise in revs, nothing else.
It only happens in 2nd 4th and reverse, gears 1-3-5 all fine, hopefully I'll still be able to go to North Weald in the morning.....any ideas ?

hmm, hopefully just the linkage somewhere between the stick and the box.
try getting Anne to move the gear stick while you watch the shift leveron top of the box, see if theres corrilation between input and output. fingers crossed mate.

Yeah it will be, the hk is for internal slave cylinder. Before anyone else says it must be lk, i'm 100% sure about this.

Anyhoo, the offer is there if your box turns out to be fckd

When you say just a rise in revs, do you mean it doesnt engage?

if this is so the syncro's could be worn.

Also the Clutch fluid may need replacing as i'm sure this is what helped kill my box.

The drive tomoz will be ok just dont rush the gear change.

As above the linkage on top of the box do suffer from the bush wearing out.

This will cause a similar symptom

Yes thats right it wont engage from say 4th to 2nd, clutch was bled for what seemed like an age last weekend when Martin helped with the brakes.
Hopefully get there ok in the morning, I'm sure a 'experienced' eye will soon put me straight.

Without going into too much detail (Graham knows what i mean) the clutch fluid is nice and fresh.
the box seemed lovely and tight (ooh-err) last week.
