They are great if you like bore washing your engine!

No real point, as you can get a HLM remap for £150, which is safer for your engine, but not for your licence!

Most of his feedback relates to Volvos.

    So it does

I must admit, I didn't click the link, I took it to be one of those resistor chip things, that fools the engine into thinking its cold all the time.

I don't know anybody that uses this chip though.

HLM still do the 'exchange' ECU deal that would save you the trip to Bromsgrove.

    From their site....

Either send us your ECU, Tune whilst you wait or purchase a "ready tuned" ECU (Refundable old unit surcharge of £100 payable).

I must addmit if I had a standard car I would quite like to try it out for the sake of £50, it would be nice to have a bit more choice of cheap upgraded ECUs

Don't mean to be a party pooper, but chipping does not of itself deliver 300bhp - for that you are talking some rather more radical modifications. I would go the HLM route, I mean, £150...how cheap is that? Torque (boring though it is) is more relevant to performance than BHP per se. This chip has an ice cube in hells chance of rendering a standard T5 300 bhp.
    KISS Rs

850R manual, Rica 310, IKEA fitted bathroom, H&C running water, Jetex 2.5", pipe rack, cap stand, Forge BOV, circular wheels with full 360 degree rotation, 302mm discs, IPD front and rear anti-roll bars, numerous shiny features, sub-atomic particle accelerator, VTOL capability ...Volvo With Attitude!!!
Also to be seen in a gold Honda CR-V these days...

But a HLM 304 won't deliver 300bhp either, I just think it would be interesting to compare a hlm to one of those.

I agree completely re the 300bhp - and for £49 maybe worth a punt - but the HLM unit is a known quantity (a Rica map) and comes with some sense that the engine will not blow up too readily. These chips have been floating around for some years and I have seldom (actually, never) heard any good about them.

Wouldn't a "stage 3" map potentially cause more harm then good without the supporting hardware upgrades?

I agree, it would just be nice if someone off the forum actually had one to put this one to bed once and for all, we never know, we might be missing out on something. we all hear and know about the dodgy resistors but this is a chip that you have to solder onto the board, and whos to say it isn't a rica clone as well.

It does say dependent on engine condition and setup.

The main issues i have is that you have to open up your ecu and fit this (soldering required) and that if he does have a lot of good feed back, then why has no one on here, t5d5 or voc got one?

I'd of thought if he has sold a few, with good results, we'd have heard about them.

"stage 3" can mean whatever the seller wants it to mean, "stage 3" sounds more impresive than "stage 1"

I'm sure this is what my 850r came with when I brought it... It was like a vtec, nothing nothing nothing...4700rpm Power, gear change
It was horrible,I'm sure it was responsible for killing my engine, new engine and HLM now and it much better...
£49.00 sounds cheap but it's costly in the long run!!
