At risk of a wobbly rod if I do the following??

    Hi people,

Starting to treat the 854 to a few toys again...it was faultless to me for 2-3 months in the French Alps so rewards are needed.

    Current engine setup is:

    K&N Induction kit
    Poly top engine mount
    HLM 304 ECU
    Actuator wound 2 full turns.

Now with the actuator adjusted the boost comes in slightly earlier....so I make sure I don't hoof it low in the revs just in case the rods don't like it with the remap as well.

I am going to fit a r.i.p kit which I know increases spool response and reduces lag time slightly. Surely this is putting me at even bigger risk of bending a rod.

Basically, should I wind the actuator back to stock location after fitting the r.i.p kit for safety's sake or do you guys think it will be ok to keep it as is.

Back from France and Kilen springs sitting nicely now:

    Cheers Alex

I'd return it to stock then go from there, 2 ful turns seams alot you sure the actuator is not tired?

I read up a lot and it was recommended as a safe amount on the forum....

Its done 2k miles up mountains and enjoyed it so it must be ok haha

Should point out it never hits fuel cut and still stays comfortably in the white area of the stock boost gauge.

Might wind it back 2 half turns once r.i.p kit fitted....but open to suggestion and what other people have done.

if your still within the white then your running under 1bar of boost, they say upto 1.3bar until 3krpm is non-rod bending. Plus the 15g hasn't got alot of strength to go with it.

I think you'll be fine, but please don't take that as gospel. As with any doing any modification its all a gamble

I would still say be careful there are loads of different factors involved and whats good for one engine might not be good for another.

It will still receive cooler intake temps so thats all that I really care about.
