    P0121 and a bang

    right guys,

on the way home from work tonight i was accelerating fairly hard when i heard a bang, no power for about 3 seconds then limited power, car wont tick over and when it does its extremely lumpy, runs okish over 3k rpm.

Oh and have a guess what lights are on................................................ ..

    bloody ETS and engine

So im thinking i have managed to blow my ETM completly

Checked all turbo hoses and appear to be fine.

    thoughts please.

I suppose the only way to go is reset the code and see if the car runs any better.

cleared codes still runs like a bag of spanners, but also now got the code for MAF sensor not impressed with that one as its only 6 months old. Disconnected MAF and it ticks over okish, went for a run and got code p0121 again and P0102 flow too low. With MAF disconected the boost is also eratic but that may well be down to the fact the MAF is disconnected

Nope not mechanical failure, MAF is knackered and also ETM is knackered, the bang i heard was a blowback thro the ETM which has bent the butterfly slightly.

Good job i have a spare ETM and a MAF on the way lol

check the vacuum hoses at the turbo. i had a very similar problem to this on mine and the hose that is on the intake pipe, just in front of the compressor housing had come off, took me ages to find it, it was while i was swapping MAF's over that i spotted it, had probably come loose due to worn top engine mount as it was before i polybushed it. Sounds like an identical scenario, i went to boot in past a car, floored it, loud noise, lost throttle, coasted to layby, turned engine off, turned it back on all was well apart from the dreaded lights and a bit of crap running,
I stuck it back on and ETM light went straight out and car was running spot on again. worth a look mate
