Took the car for a spin to MRG in Chippenham this morning to have them fit a couple of new droplinks and a new aux belt, I must say they are a very friendly bunch.

Free WiFi and several offers of Tea/Coffee (no biscuits though) along with a few comments commenting me on the condition of the car, I can see why so many people travel to them.

Car of course now drives spot on, and just in case there was a 'book' running on it I got them to change the 'wooden' gear knob back to the factory one as it wasn't a 100% match

You paid someone to change a pair of droplinks and an aux belt. a chimp could do that, though apparently not JamesT5. I can't believe you ruined a perfectly good wood gear knob.

As my local indie closed down last year I thought I'd try them out, and as they weren't difficult jobs they didn't take long meaning a low labour bill.

As for the wooden knob it's in better condition than when you gave it to me with a gouge in it

Pick on V70 Graham day today is it lol

Yes it is. If you'd have done the jobs yourself you'd have had no labour bill. The gear knob only had a small chip at the back which you couldn't see, and worked a lot better than the caliper you gave me.

Now it didn't quite happen like that did it? Unlike you pestering me for my knob, which I gave you (you're quite welcome to it ) and then moan it's got a little chip in it, who can't win?

Latest on the plastics, I have gone back to stock for the time being, though the 'green marble' engine covers will be making an appearance again at some point.

I think my next mod will be a new header tank. The one that's in there isn't looking too clever.

Was thinking of white coolant pipes, maybe when I change the bottle.
