Difference between T5 and T5R

I pulled a OE rip kit off a '94 T5 that just had 850 Turbo on the back.

recently?? If so & you are selling, i would be interested...

...Why did Volvo ditch the RIP kit that many people like to reverse engineer to this day?
Any ideas?

Cos the throttle body could ice up in some colder climates, for the UK no probs

Italy had some 2.0 litres registered as T5-R and T5. we know they aren't proper ones but that's what the vin says.

officially they are T-5's, Volvo used the smaller engine because of tax regulations making the 2.3 very expensive in Italy

I'm a tight arse can't pay that - is a substanital percentage of the cars value....I just like the standard look

I bought a factory RIP set up recently for £70 shipped, It does make a difference, Definately better lower to mid range and it 'Looks' right too.
