    Short throw shift mod

I was looking into a short throw shift kit... couldn't find one on eBay, but did else where.
I found a kit being sold for $60 looking closer at the picture of the kit i thought... im not paying $60 for that, Im going down my workshop to make one
after 45 mins this is what i came up with:

Works real well, just a little stiff on the change now for my liking, but i shall try it for a bit maybe give a bit more throw back.
I moved the position of the gear knob moving it further back in the car... cuz of my long legs the shifter was a real stretch away.
However it only cost me 45 mins

I "know" somebody who was knocking these out for a tenner, there's a fine line between short throw and speed. Make it too short and you can adversely affect the shifting ability. If you can, try moving the new linkage anchor closer to the old one, thus reducing the required effort to move it.

Very tidy work there tho, it could be the size/shape of the washers slowing it down.

I do understand the leverage, i was mimicking the kit at 50% with the cable also being 5mm advanced to move the stick....Im thinking a washer under the cable eye to free it up a bit, the bushes are shot so might make up some solid replacements.
Im going to go for a drive in a bit so.... i will decide whether to go for more of a 60-70% instead.
    Thanks for you comments guys!
Did you built one i take it Colin?

I'll have the car off the road for a couple of weeks from saturday, so pop down whenever you want, only takes a couple of minutes to take off and put back on.

It's ok to make your own, but it's frowned upon to make them for other people

Well i will chuck a first offer in, if you want me to make you one... i shall just double up tomorrow with the MK2, so pm me

Ive had a drive tonight and the 50% feels good, really happy with moving the lever back a bit.
I just need to free up the working parts, the plans for the mk2 will be a two piece design with a bend in the lower... bringing the cable lower and closer to the standard mount, and use a few fancy washers to clamp the cable with.
