Smile IPD TCV versus Volvo TCV

My recent experience with the Turbo Control Valve on my S70R.

Have read a lot about these and always felt my beast lacked a little in the low revs area, so while on holiday in Florida had IPD deliver a valve and some pipe to the villa, expensive way to save on p+p!.

Fitted the IPD valve on my return along with replacement piping and there was a better low down responce, but this was at the expense of the mpg dropping from around 24-25mpg to 22mpg, ouch!
Ran it for a few months but could not improve the mpg, I do the same daily runs.
So fitted a new Volvo valve, within a week mpg back up to 24.6 and to be honest cannot say there is a big difference in the way the car drives, better than the old valve and pipes, but very little difference to the IPD varient.

    Exclamation

i fitted the IPD TCV on my car about 4 weeks back, i felt the low down power improve instantly, also the boost was holding stronger all the way up the rev range.... imo its much better than the volvo TCV that was on there to start with (im sure it was original from 02)

but the MPG has taken a hit.... my computer does not show the change but i know its drinking more than before..

but hey, cant always have your cake & eat it....lol

I have one but never fitted it as I was told it wouldnt work very well with the MTE remap. Im guessing that if its allowing the turbo to spool harder at lower RPM then you will use more fuel, power always comes at a cost, its never ever free :-(

I have the HLM 304 remap on mine, so not sure if that had any effect, but the slight difference in the way the car performed in my opinion was not worth the drop in mpg.
