I bought one of these from Elevate(Evolve) a few years ago to put on the S70. But it's just open holes in the top of the bonnet, there's nothing to stop rain just pooring in the engine bay, so I never used it. You could buy a cover for it, that you would have to remove when you wanted it open, but that's just a ball ache!

I've thought about that a few times, and concluded that it looks like a seriously dumb idea. No water management beyond what Chris says. Talk about giving yourself unwanted problems - especially here in the UK

Personally if it's going to be a false vent, I wouldn't dream of drilling the bonnet.

Stick the vent on and then there isn't any permanent damage done to your bonnet should you want to remove the vent at a later date.

    ,.,

i just got hold of a 2nd hand bonnet same colour as mine then fitted the vent,
if it went wrong or ended up a disaster then i just refit the original bonnet..
ii still got my perfect standard bonnet,
then 2 other ones with diffrent vents, now i can choose what bonnet to wear lol
