The old girl broke down this morning on the way back from the weekly shop, luck i was only a couple 100 yards from home.
She just died and when I turned the key the engine made some very odd noises. Got home and started to find what was at fault, after about 20mins or so found that cambelt had jumped a few teeth. re-timed it and tried to start it, no joy.
Did a compression test and found that cylinders 1,2,3 had little or no compreesion but cylinders 4+5 where ok. So off came the head.
I`ve got 4 dents in every piston and barrels that look like they have done 195k.
I looked into replacing the damaged valves and overhauling the head but the cost was thro the roof, this one 850 that I was determind to keep on the road and with the help from dalhousie she will be back on the road soon.
