Car alarm driving me and my neighbours mad!

The alarm on my p1 V70 T5 is going off more and more for no apparent reason. What I have noticed is that after it has gone off, one of the rear doors, even though fully closed, has the door open red light lit up.

I can only think that the car thinks the rear door has been opened even though it hasn't, but why is the door open light coming on when the door is fully shut?

I've just tryed turning the child doorlock on, but the alarm still went off, and I want to go to bed!

    Help.......please!

After lifting the door up a few mil, and moving the strikeplate accordingly, I'm pleased to say that it's cured my issue. The door open light is now off all the time when the door is shut, and the alarm hasn't gone off for 2-3 days.

Unfortunately, after a few days, the alarm started to go off again. This time, after reading the handbook, I managed to disarm the interior sensors, and the alarm hasn't gone off for 4-5 days now. It's just remembering to knock them off before I lock the car now.

I don't know if these may need cleaning or replacing, so can I ask please if anyone else has experienced sensor issues and what they would suggest?

Another 24 hours gone without the alarm going off, so it's looking pretty certain that it's the interior sensors that are at fault. Anyone had the same issue please?

Do you have anything metallic on show? With my P1 C70 I had a Volvo pen in the centre console which had a metal bezzle. I put it in the glove box and that sorted it.
The only other thing I can think of is to clean the sensor mesh/grille incase there's anything infront of it that might moveand trigger the alarm.

Thanks for that, and there's nothing metallic that I can think of but I'll have a good look.

I'm going to gently hoover over the sensors, and I might remove them to have a closer inspection. The alarm never went off when I first bought the car.

It could be the alarm module battery that needs replacing or servicing as when it can't retain enough charge it sets the alarm off at random times. It's a well documented issue although never got around to changing mine. I just kept it off like you're doing.

Collected replacement B pillar sensors from Daza-B yesterday, off the V70R that he's breaking. Just swapped them onto my T5 and now waiting to see if the alarm goes off.

Thanks once again Daza-B! Overiding the B pillar sensors stopped the alarm going off, so hopefully this is the answer.

It's now been over 32 hours without the alarm going off. I might be tempting fate, but I think it's sorted. Happy days!!!

Is there any way you can turn off the alarm. I have a cover for my C70 cab to keep the cack off the car but when it gets windy it seems to trip the alarm.

I have tried to pull fuse number three but it didn't deactivate the alarm.

I find if I lock my C70 with the key rather than the remote it doesn't activate the alarm.

Just had a go Stribo and the alarm light on the dashboard is off, which should hopefully stop me becoming the Whicker Man 2 at the hands of my neighbours.

Thanks again mate. I love this place!

Completely off the subject Stribo have you ever had any problems with your roof not fully coming down?
On a couple of occasions since I got the car the flaps on either side of the rear passenger seats, particularly the nearside one don't appear to be folding completely flat and when I lift them up slightly I can see what looks like to be a pronged locking bar that doesn't appear to be fully engaging.

When I try to drive away I am meet with a very annoying pinging. I then have to stop and raise/lower the roof until it finally folds flat.

It really is a lovely car but I can't help feeling I have been sold a pup.

I would be having more problems if my roof was folding down, I've got a coupe.
