    Yes this is true, I work at a car body repair centre and we are still able to wash our customers cars the same as the car cleaning companies.

    Car washes tend to recycle water though.....well they do around here.

    There is nothing wrong with washing your car in the rain. After all - all you are trying to do is remove the dirt & it save you having to dry it.

    Anyway craig - there isn't a HPB on in Shropshire?

    For those darn sarf who are not so lucky - 2 options use waterless carwash - I can recommend Chemical guys Blue detailing spray with carnuba - comes by the gallon if you so desire & can be watered down 1 in 2 to make it last or use rinseless car shampoo.

    2 bucket method is recommended especailly as you cannot wet the car first.

    I can't take credit for this one, but confirmed as OK by Thames Water last time there was a hosepipe ban

    rain water is pretty soft as well so ideal to wash car in the rain,you may get a few odd looks from neighbours.

    You could always collect rain water into a butt. Karcher are now releasing pressure washers with an additional water-butt pump included.
