V70 T5 SE - What's the stero like in these?

Going to see my future car at the weekend, I assume they have a pretty decent stereo (This will be a factory fit item) in them?

Do they tend to have a bootchanger/multiplayer in them, or is it just the head unit?

What would be the logistics of using an mp3 (Sansa clip) player with one?

Some have a sub in the spare wheel well and if it has pro-logic it will have an amp under the front seat (drivers side I think). Regardless, mine still has the original speakers running from a JVC head unit and the sound quality is pretty damn good

Volvo use really good speakers (Dynaudio). Prologic dolby is/was available on certain trim levels as an option.

OEM HU's were made by Alpine so they are pretty good. What year is the V70?

I think you can get different units. My c70 has a sc901 which has a 3 disc changer built in and the option of a 6 in.the rear but you can get single cd version. My unit is amplified as standard and sounds awesome plus i got a grom media adapter which plugs into spare cd changer socket and allows me to play my ipod. If its the same as mine make sure it plays legal cds. They don't like copys but mine don't work and it costs a fair bit to fix.

it's a Y reg 2001 model, and apparently it has 9 speakers!

Where would I be looking for the changer if it had one - glovebox?

If its a 2001 then it should be the same as my mates 2003 xc90 and in that the multichanger is built into the dash behind the stereo. (you load the cds through the slot in the front)

If it is the same then make sure you take some cds along to test it, as if it breaks it can be very expensive to fix.

At that year it could be either P1 or P2 - does it have haunches on the outside of the doors?

The optional 6 CD changer is in the boot usually. Check the user manual for details.

ive got the premium system in my 02 S60 T5 SE, the sound is IMMENSE!!

crystal clarity, pretty good bass response too..... i was gonna add the sub & amp from my old car but tbh its really not needed.. best stock system ive heard.

Hi,
If it has 9 speakers and is a SE then it will have the mid range set up.
ie:1 Prologic centre speaker (Rember to turn it on with the mode buton on the top right "PL")
2 an sc 803 radio with a 4 disc in dash changer.
3 a 200W amp under the drivers seat.

I may have the optional boot CDchanger and sub in the rear wheel well, but unlikley.
Try to play 4 CD's if you can and check the stering wheel butons work.
You can add a Grom Audio unit to ley you play mp3's or ipod.
Not a bad set up ,you can add the sub later if you want. It makes a good inprovement.
