    Bargain ?? or not??

A friend of mine has asked me to sell BOTH of their family cars due to job losses and subsequent cash problems.

I've listed one of their cars on eBay but the other one I'm seriously interested in it for myself.....

It's a 2004 S60 D5.....errrr Geartronic. 82000 with full Volvo service history, it's just had the timing belt done & comes with a 12 month ticket & a few months tax. Full leather, electric seats, sunroof with fresh tyres as well. They want me to advertise it for £3995 but would accept £3000!!

I've drove the car briefly and cannot find fault with the slushbox and have listened to any suspicious front suspension noises - the car seems to drive faultless with no warnings on the DIM. £3000 seems to good to miss....full tank of the dirty stuff too.

Don't know if it's cheap when you compare it to this http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/showthread.php?t=42673, but you know it's a good car

2004 has an updated DIM (like my new one) that doesn't fail like the older ones so that's not a worry. I would be a bit suspect of the slushbox but if it's been looked-after then so long as you keep looking after it, there's no reason why it'll fail, or at least give you plenty of warning when it is failing.
For the money? Big yes from me.

High mileage is not a worry for the engines but there is more than engine moves the car.

Sorry to hear about your friends personal issues, but I'd say the car seems a bargain, particularly with that low mileage. With them being your friends, and a full tank of diesel(£100), give em £3500!

Took ownership of the S60 today, they even left me a half tank of fuel.

Only 3 things I noticed needed sorting out:

    1. The centre storage compartment with the slide over lid has a tab broken which makes it open in a wobbly fashion.

    2. A/C was only coming through vaguely cool on the passenger side vents, re-gassed it this afternoon and now it blows ice cold from all of its vents - strange but true. The A/C takes 1000g of refrigerant, there was only 320g in the system which explained its poor performance.

    3. Cigarette lighters are missing....ordered two blanks from eBay.

The rest of the car is in great condition and will be taking her to Manchester tomorrow, fingers crossed she'll behave.

Hi, I'm a newbie to the group....I have just swapped in my LPG v40 for a MY57 S60 D5, and just had the Polestar remap, which has made a pretty good improvement both to performance and economy, as long as I don't push it too hard, on my hour commute each way I get 41-43MPG (depending how late I am running) on a mix of A roads, lanes and bit of dual carriage way.

Have noticed that the traction control limits things a bit at times (cuts the power if you want to get onto a roundabout in heavy traffic), otherwise all ok. Handling pretty good, for what I need, but mainly an easy relaxed car to drive.

Took it on a 600 mile trip a few weeks ago over a weekend, and on motorways it was really relaxing, and managed 46mpg, and that was crusing at 80. thimbs up from me.
    Present:-

    2008 S60 D5 manual, Polestar 205BHP , 450Nm.

    Past:-

    1998 V40 1.8 manual with LPG conversion. 140k miles
1997 Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 manual (Total rubbish) 125K miles then died.
1992 Vauxhall Astra 1.4 GLSi manual, 200K miles
Volvo 340DL 1.4 manual twin Webbers. 183K miles.
    Volvo 360GLS 2.0 manual petrol 130K miles
Volvo 265 GLE 2.9 mechanical injection 3 speed auto 220Kmiles.

Bump an old thread but I actually have got nearly 700 miles out of it. and ashley if you ever come back on here the car has found a good home I don't drive it often as I would like as my s40 is my daily driver but I love the s60's power and sorry mate I ditched the green performance filter for a standard oem volvo one. Made all the difference car is a lot quieter and smoother. and here she is.
Two volvo Kieran, volvo s40 1.9d and volvo s60 d5 remapped by polestar.
