    here's what i plan..

using the same method you did just different mounting...

thanks again, think i'll try it the wk end (my mechanic quoted me £80 to install so might save a few quid)
ok so...... finally after following this threads route, i fitted my gauge today.

route slightly differed over the engine but went in the same way.... took about 2hrs to thread the piping through the grommet into the fusebox but that was the only hinderer.

here's a few pics.. not too happy with the black filler i used on the vent, so ill carbon wrap that hole i think, or get something black to go over it..??

just wiring left now.... all cables have been positioned behind the radio, just need to find out which wires on the radio cluster i need..???

but SUPER happy i finally committed myself to it, the job was seriously daunting for some reason...lol

    Thanks Martin......

Whereabouts on the inlet manifold do you connect the pipe? Can you not tee into the pipe that goes from the turbo to the TCS?

No mate, you need the one that goes from the inlet manifold to the recirc valve.

Looks like a tidy job there Mitch. The cigerette lighter is a good one to splice into for the power supply. Save the risk of annoying the radio.

That's a very odd route for the piping... Is there no rubber grommet behind the glovebox or behind the fuse box?

It might be an 850/P1 thing..

There's a few but they're an absolute pig to get at from inside.

    morning all........

need some urgent help with my wiring..... my car is currently in bits, lol

im gonna tap into the lighter as suggested but there's no chassis bolts anywhere in the center console for a ground..

the 2 cables coming off the lighter (purple / black), im guessing purple is live & black is ground / negative...???

can i not just run the gauge pos & neg straight into both of the lighter connections...???

    thanks...

    IT WORKS!!!!!

now i just need a crash course in what it 'should' be doing..

when i start the car it reads 20-22psi vacuum..

when i pull off 2krpm it moves to 15psi vacuum..

when i boot it, it reaches 12-13psi boost (which is pretty good i thought)

though it never sits at 0psi..???

when cruising at 60mph 5th 2.5krpm ... the gauge is reading 10psi in vacuum..???, only when the revs go past 4k does it pass the 0 & move into boost..???

    is this right..???

Doesn't sound right mate, boost should start before 2000 rpm, though you will get vacuum at idle.I'd check the pipework doesn't have any leaks.

Sounds about right to me, vacuum on idle is spot on and yes it will be in vacuum when crusing I'm guessing yours is not mapped as the boost comes in late but all looks good.

No, it should come out of vacuum and at least stay at 0 until boost reaches a positive pressure. If your just pootling around off boost it shouldn't hardly move off 0. If it does, I'd say your gauge is poo.

lol.... well we know the gauge is poo , so i should be seeing 0psi while cruising with no boost...??

from what ive read, a decent vacuum shows a healthy engine..??

Mine only goes to "0" if i squeeze the load pedal a bit to create positive vacuum, normal driving it stays negative and thats with a AEM digital gauge and it definatly not poo lol
