Fitting a boost-o-meter to a P2...

Well, after buying Rotches boost gauge, I thought I'd do a little how-to for those with a P2. It's sort-of complicated but relatively quick.
First I got about 10ft of 2mm push-fit tubing (the swoosh gauge uses a 2mm pipe with an expensive looking tee) Ditched the original tube as it wasn't long enough to reach the inlet manifold.
Open the fusebox on the side of the dash and pull the sponge thing from the bulkhead. Now, with the door open, where there's a rubber sleeve between the door and the car, 4" above, in the car-side, there's a 1" rubber gromet. Remove it and ram a hole in it with a screwdriver and hang on to it. Now poke the tube in the hole in the dash and with a bit of wiggling, it will come out the hole where the gromet was. Now put the tube through the gromet and feed the pipe up, through the gap between the inner and outer wing.


From under the bonnet, where the bonnet mechanism connects to the wing, pull the pipe through, making sure the pipe doesn't get fouled by the mechanism.

Run the pipe down the front of the car...

And plumb the tee into the vac line from the inlet manifold to the recirc, adding the 2mm tube to it. Restrain the tube, away from heat sources, with cable ties.

Then go back to the fuse board and pull fuse No. 13 (12v front outlet), poke the live/light wires in the slot where the fuse goes and reinsert the fuse (this is a temporary measure, just to get it working - gonna find a proper source eventually ) then bolt the neutral wire to the dash with the 10mm dash bolt in the fuse board area.


Then mount the pod (however and wherever you mount it, tuck the pipe and wire into the gap between the A pillar trim and the dash top - the dash top is spongey there and accomodates the pipe and wire nicely.
